TGA detects 23400 violations and impounds 1,200 vehicles during third week of Ramadan

RIYADH — The Transport General Authority (TGA) has conducted 119,819 inspections across the Kingdom during the third week of Ramadan. The inspections have resulted in the detection of 23,399 violations and the impounding of 1,199 vehicles. The TGA reported an overall compliance rate of 91 percent during this period.The inspections aimed to verify service quality and technical safety standards, particularly in the Makkah and Madinah regions, to ensure safe transportation for pilgrims. In the Makkah region, teams conducted 66,166 inspections, resulting in 13,993 violations and the impounding of 694 vehicles. In the Madinah region, 18,843 inspections resulted in 4,627 violations and 404 vehicles being impounded. Common violations included drivers failing to wear approved uniforms, operating without permits, vehicles failing to meet safety requirements, taxi drivers not using meters, and unauthorized individuals using private vehicles for passenger transport. The TGA emphasized that these campaigns are essential for raising regulatory compliance, enhancing sector competitiveness, and ensuring that all public transportation services adhere to the highest safety standards.
