RIYADH — Saudi dates have maintained a strong presence in major international retail markets, now listed in more than 1,500 branches of 15 major retail chains across over 14 countries, with Germany emerging as a key market under an initiative launched by the National Center for Palms and Dates. In Germany, Saudi dates have gained a notable foothold in leading retail outlets across multiple cities, attracting strong consumer demand due to their high quality, compliance with international standards, and wide range of premium varieties and value-added products. These products have become part of everyday consumption patterns, featuring in various meals, with many consumers expressing admiration for Saudi date varieties and regularly including them in their purchases. **media[2684983]** The center noted that this growing presence is an extension of its “Empowering Saudi Date Exports and Entering Global Markets” initiative, which supports Saudi companies in expanding export reach and enhancing readiness to compete globally. The Kingdom’s palm and date sector has witnessed rapid growth in recent years, driven by increased production and rising export volumes and value. Date production has surpassed 1.9 million tons, while exports have reached approximately SR1.7 billion. Saudi dates are now exported to more than 125 countries worldwide, reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a leading global exporter. The initiative aims to further boost export volumes, increase returns, and strengthen the sector’s contribution to the national economy, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
