RIYADH — The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) announced on Saturday that land, sea, and air customs ports across Saudi Arabia recorded 990 seizures of contraband of various types and forms during the last week. ZATCA said that the seized items include narcotics, cash, prohibited materials, weapons and related equipment. These included 89 types of narcotics such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, Captagon pills, and others, in addition to 461 prohibited substances. The authority noted that customs ports foiled attempts to smuggle 2,010 tobacco products and related items, along with 36 cases involving cash and three cases involving weapons and related equipment. The ZATCA affirmed its commitment to strengthening customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports to ensure the security and protection of society. This is part of ZATCA’s ongoing efforts to enhance security and safeguard the community from contraband, in continuous cooperation and coordination with all relevant partners. ZATCA called on the public to contribute to combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy by contacting them through the dedicated security reporting hotline 1910, via email, or the international number 009661910. Through these channels, ZATCA receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law with complete confidentiality, and offers a financial reward to the whistleblower if the provided information is correct.
