The European Union and Australia struck a long-awaited free-trade deal on Tuesday as the bloc seeks to diversify its export markets and expand beyond its traditional partners. The deal, however, has drawn stern criticism from European farmers’ groups that called concessions on exports of Australian beef, sugar and lamb “unacceptable”.
