Outrage as Trump ‘demands firing’ of corporate board member: ‘This is how dictators act’

Donald Trump threatened Netflix over the weekend, saying the streaming giant must fire a former Obama insider from its board or face “consequences,” and analysts immediately sounded the alarm. The president took to Truth Social Saturday to share a comment made by fringe MAGA influencer Laura Loomer, known for her close ties to Trump. She wrote, “Netflix Board Member Susan Rice says corporations who took a ‘knee to Trump’ will face an ‘accountability agenda’ from elected Democrats if they win the midterms in 2026 and the 2028 Presidential election.”Trump added to that, “Netflix should fire racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice, IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences… She’s got no talent or skills – Purely a political hack! HER POWER IS GONE, AND WILL NEVER BE BACK. How much is she being paid, and for what??? Thank you for your attention to this matter.”The outrage came instantly.Attorney Ari Cohn chimed in, “There is a 103% chance that Trump threatens to use the DOJ to block the Netflix-Warner Brothers deal and clear a path for his buddies at Paramount if they don’t fire Rice. (even higher percentage chance that he actually does it with or without an explicit threat).”Liberal influencer Brian Krassenstein said, “BREAKING: Trump is now threatening Netflix of consequences if they don’t fire Susan Rice. Important context: Netflix is in a bidding war with Paramount for Warner Brothers. There are rumors that Trump may block the bid by Netflix. This is exactly how dictators act. How are Republicans OK with this?”Host Matthew Sheffield asked, “Where are the people so concerned about ‘cancel culture’ when the president is literally demanding the firing of corporate board members?Trump ally Kari Lake, on the other hand, dug in, saying, “Fire Susan Rice and cancel your Netflix account if you haven’t already.”Dem senator Adam Schiff also weighed in, saying, “A president does not dictate what speech is allowed. A president does not dictate who a company can hire or fire or have sit on their board. A president does not dictate when a merger pleases him and when it does not. Only a dictator does. And we will not allow one in the United States. Not now. Not ever.”
