RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman said Founding Day, marked on Feb. 22, is an opportunity to recall the establishment of the Saudi state. In a post on X, King Salman wrote: “On this glorious day, we remember the founding of our blessed state, established by our forefathers on the word of monotheism, the pursuit of justice and the unification of people under one banner; which, by the grace of God, achieved security and prosperity.”He noted that the Kingdom’s security, stability and development stem from firm principles that united the people under one flag.King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received cables of congratulations from Gulf, Arab and Islamic leaders marking Founding Day.The messages praised Saudi Arabia’s international standing, development achievements and role in supporting regional security and peace.Leaders also expressed appreciation for their countries’ relations with the Kingdom and their commitment to strengthening cooperation across various fields.Founding Day coincides this year with the holy month of Ramadan. Across the Kingdom, streets were decorated in green and traditional attire as cultural and entertainment events were launched Sunday in all regions.Riyadh and other cities became destinations for thousands of citizens, residents and visitors attending activities that highlighted the historical roots of the Saudi state, first established three centuries ago.
