Raw Story reports President Donald Trump raged at the Supreme Court on Friday for snatching away his ability to wield unilateral tariffs to punish nations that make him angry. The courts, complete with its conservative majority — many appointed by Trump — ruled against his claimed authority to impose tariffs, sending Trump on a tear of vowing to circumvent the court with tariff “alternatives.” Trump called the decision a “ridiculous opinion,” and accused conservative members of the court who sided against him of a kind of betrayal, and said he was “ashamed” of them.“The court said that I’m not allowed to charge even $1! Can’t charge one dollar to any country under IEEPA!,” Trump fumed in a public address after the court ruled 6-to-3 against him.But Trump then followed his tantrum up with an unsettling threat:“But I am allowed to cut off any and all trade or business with that same country; in other words, I can destroy the trade, I can destroy the country!” Trump blared. “I’m even allowed to impose a foreign country-destroying embargo, I can embargo! I can do anything I want, but I can’t charge $1!”Social media had its own opinions.“You’re already destroying America,” blurted one commenter on X.“Let’s be clear. No president is ‘allowed’ to unilaterally destroy any other country,” said another.“Lmao this idiot literally has no clue what he’s even talking about it. Well, less so than usual,” said another critic on X. “How did his team let him go up here and make himself look like an even bigger idiot than usual. This is f—— brutal.”Other critics tore into what appeared to be the president’s declining sense of reality in his old age.“Joe Biden’s waiting with a warm cookie for you … then craft time then to bed,” said Paine TV podcaster Thomas Paine on X.Other called out Republican hypocrisy for supporting a president who expressed such nonsense.“Imagine if a Dem f—— said ‘I can destroy the country … I can do anything I want to do to them,” said an X commenter. “Trump sounds like a psychopath right now,” said a critic on Blue Sky.
