Liverpool street as you’ve never seen it before

The street has undergone a transformation

A Liverpool road has undergone major changes today as filming took place. The ECHO was told this morning that film crews had been spotted on City Road in Walton.

Pictures taken by the ECHO on the street this afternoon show shops with 60s-style signage put on them, advertising cigarettes, Jacob’s chocolate and retro drinks. A milk float and a large number of milk bottles have also been put in place.

A road sign states City Road was closed from 8am this morning Monday, February 23 and this will last until 1am on Sunday, February 28. It is likely that the filming is for the series of movies about The Beatles which are currently in production.

The series of films are slated to be released in 2028 and will star Paul Mescal as Sir Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Sir Ringo Starr, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.

The ECHO was told last week by Lynn Saunders, head of the Liverpool Film Office, that filming for the biopics would be taking place in the city this week. A notice, seen by the ECHO, has also been distributed to residents of several streets in Dingle informing them filming for the new Fab Four series will take place there too.

You can see a gallery of pictures from the filming on City Road in the gallery below.
