Jack Whitehall has established himself as a comedian and actor, whilst also becoming a familiar presence hosting the Brit Awards. The annual music celebration returns this month with him once more taking centre stage.

The 37-year-old Londoner is recognised for portraying JP in the Channel 4 comedy-drama Fresh Meat and Alfie Wickers in the BBC Three sitcom Bad Education. He also co-created the latter alongside its cinematic version, The Bad Education Movie.

Jack, who featured regularly as a panellist on the comedy game show A League of Their Own, isn’t the sole celebrity in his household – his father, Michael, appears with his son in the Netflix comedy documentary series Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father.

As Jack prepares for another Brit Awards ceremony, we explore his private life, including his separation from his famous former partner, his relationship with his fiancée and fatherhood….

Split from ex

Jack previously confessed he ‘messed up’ his opportunity to marry his famous ex Gemma Chan. The comedian ended his relationship with the Crazy Rich Asians actress in 2017 following six years together, reports the Mirror.

And in series four of his Netflix programme Travels With My Father, he acknowledged that he ‘f***ed up’ his marriage prospects.

Speaking to his mother Hilary, he says: ‘I f***ed up my chance of that. I did. I could have got married but I messed it up. “

Following their split, Jack went on to find love with his current partner, whilst Gemma is now in a relationship with The Gold and Mamma Mia! star Dominic Cooper.

Marriage plans

Jack has been with Essex model Roxy Horner since 2020, though their romance didn’t exactly get off to a storybook start.

Appearing on the Life’s A Beach podcast, Jack revealed how their first date in Australia, where the pair originally met, nearly went off the rails.Having been pointed towards a particular restaurant, the couple arrived to discover the entire venue was adorned with taxidermy ducks – something that didn’t sit well with Roxy, who is vegan.

Jack, in his defence, had no idea about her dietary choices beforehand, later describing the awkward situation as “something out of a sitcom”.

Despite the unfortunate venue choice, the two clearly clicked, eventually moving in together during the Covid pandemic. Jack previously told the Mirror: “Weirdly that was quite nice because we spent a lot of time together and it accelerates the relationship in a way.

“”Then when lockdown ended, there was a lot of things we realised. We’d never gone to see a film together. We’d never been to a restaurant in England because we met in Australia.”

The couple now share a young daughter, Elsie, and are engaged to be wed. Last month, Roxy, 34, turned heads at a Burns Night event in London, arriving in a stunning white gown and declaring she was in her “bridal era”.

Speaking to the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden, Roxy said: “I’m in my bridal era, this is from Nadine Merabi’s wedding collection. I had to try it as I’m testing the waters. I’m going crazy and trying every style you can think of.”

Jack Whitehall is on The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday, February 21 on ITV1 at 9.25pm. Jack is hosting The Brit Awards 2026 on ITV1 on Saturday, February 28 at 8.15pm
