A 10 year old girl has been left with serious injuries after a reported dog attack today (Wednesday, February 4).
Police and emergency services attended the scene on Roseneath Road in the Great Lever area at around 3:30pm. Police said the young victim was taken to hospital after she sustaining injuries that are believed to be life changing.
Armed police were also in attendance at the scene with two dogs detained by officers. A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of possessing a dangerously out of control dog, reports Manchester Evening News.
The pair were taken into custody to be questioned in relation to the incident. A large police presence will be in place in the area as enquiries are carried out.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “Shortly before 3.30pm this afternoon (Wednesday, February 4) officers were called to reports of a dog attack on Roseneath Road, Bolton.
“Emergency services attended and a 10-year-old girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries, believed to be life-changing. Armed Response Vehicles and GMP Dog Unit were deployed, and two dogs have been detained.
“A 28-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of possessing a dog dangerously out of control, and are currently in custody. Officers will remain in the area as they conduct further enquiries and to provide reassurance to the community.”
