All you need to know:
- Sir Sam Mendes is directing four films based on the lives of the Liverpool band that transformed the world. The Beatles four film cinematic event is an ambitious project that will tell the lives of each of the Fab Four.
- The series of films are slated to be released in 2028 and will star Paul Mescal as Sir Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Sir Ringo Starr, Harris Dickinson as the late John Lennon and Joseph Quinn as the late George Harrison. The four interconnected films will tell the story of the band from each member’s perspective, including the phenomenal rise and eventual break-up of The Beatles.
- Other confirmed cast members include Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood as Patties Boyd and Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey. Legendary Liverpool actor David Morrissey will be appearing in the film as Sir Paul’s dad, Jim McCartney. Happy Valley star James Norton will be taking on the role as manager, Brian Epstein, often referred to as the fifth Beatle.
- Film cameras have been spotted in Liverpool this week as filming gets underway for the highly-anticipated Beatles biopics. Camera crew were on City Road in Walton today (Wednesday, February 24) where screens had been set up to block passers by getting a peak at what was being filmed. The crew were also spotted outside the former home of John Lennon on Menlove Avenue in Woolton.
- The most recent photos captured by the ECHO saw Paul Mescal transformed into Sir Paul McCartney. Leanne Best, who is playing John Lennon’s aunt Mimi, was also seen in the window of Lennon’s famous home during filming.
- Camera crews also descended on the streets of London earlier this month as it was transformed into 1960s New York. The actors were pictured in character for the scenes which brought The Plaza Hotel on Fifth Avenue roaring back to life. Screaming fans, police barricades and period details were spotted when filming took place.
- The ECHO understands that filming for the biopics will be taking place in the city this week. A notice, seen by the ECHO, has also been distributed to residents of several streets in Dingle informing them filming for the new Fab Four series will take place there too.
- In January, LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) was provided with the first-look images of the actors in character. The exclusive postcards saw Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Harris Dickinson and Joseph Quinn transformed into the Fab Four for the first time.
