This Morning: Corrie’s Jonathan Howard on the upcoming murder plot
A Coronation Street star may have accidentally revealed the identity of an upcoming murder victim after dropping a major “spoiler”.
The long-running ITV soap recently broadcast a special flashforward episode that disclosed the five residents who could potentially die in April.
Three of the street’s most notorious villains – Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), and Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) – are all in danger, alongside Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) and newcomer Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown).
During a dramatic flashback sequence, youngster Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) told police she had stumbled upon a corpse on the night of her mum Lisa’s (Vicky Myers) wedding to Carla Connor (Alison King), reports the Daily Star.
Scenes featuring each potential victim were then shown, with all of them appearing frightened during the night on the cobbles. But which character will actually meet their demise?

According to a betting spokesperson, Carl is currently the favourite to be killed off this spring at odds of 4/5. Megan follows closely behind at 3/1, whilst Theo sits at 5/1. Maggie and Jodie are thought to be least likely to die, with odds of 9/1 and 20/1, respectively.
Carl actor Jonathan Howard has now fuelled speculation further, following his appearance on ITV’s This Morning on Wednesday (February 25). Soap expert Sharon Marshall delivered a live report from the Rovers Return as the Corrie team geared up to shoot Lisa and Carla’s wedding.
During his break from filming, Jonathan chatted with Sharon, and viewers quickly spotted a significant bruise around his eye.
“We do know that filming is happening this week, [where someone] will go and meet their maker,” Sharon started.
Referring to the noticeable bruise, the host added: “You might have come inadvertently with a little spoiler clue. You were frantically wiping your face with a wet wipe… We couldn’t quite get rid of the black eye they’ve put on him.”

Jonathan responded: “Yes, the make-up team did a great job this morning [at] completely covering me in blood, because Carl is going to get into some trouble… [He gets in] a few fights, yeah. Things are going to get pretty bad for Carl, yeah.”
Carl has already ruffled plenty of feathers, having stolen his brother Kevin’s (Michael Le Vell) wife, Abi (Sally Carman), before having another affair with James Bailey (Jason Callender). But that’s not all – Carl also ran over Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall), and drove under the influence in the Corriedale episode, before framing his mum, Debbie (Sue Devaney).
“I’m not the nicest on the street at the moment,” Jonathan noted, before adding: “I’ve had a really good time here, I’ve really enjoyed it… We’ll see what happens in the future.” Upon noticing his use of the past tense, Sharon appeared taken aback.
Corrie fans also picked up on the clues Jonathan revealed during the interview, with one viewer posting on X (formerly Twitter): “Did Jonathan Howard slip up? He sure looked a bit panicked when he realised he had spoken in the past tense about his time on #Corrie.”
Another commented: “The actor who plays Carl is casually sitting in the Rovers with a black eye being interviewed by Sharon.” Could Carl be the secret murder victim? Only time will tell.
