Coronation Street’s Lauren Bolton may be written out of the show, according to a new fan theory.
Lauren (Cait Fitton) first appeared on the ITV soap in 2022. As a fiery and loyal teenager, Lauren has been at the centre of several major storylines during her time on the cobbles.
From being raised by her racist far-right extremist father Reece Bolton (Scott Anson) to ending the life of her tormentor and villainous character Joel Deering (Calum Lill), Lauren’s stint in Weatherfield has been anything but dull.
However, in recent weeks, she has been developing a bond with newcomer Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike), who relocated to Weatherfield last year with his family to take over the Rovers Return.
His family includes his father Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker), Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley), brother Will (Lucas Hodgson-Wale), grandmother Maggie (Pauline McLynn) and Eva’s daughter Suzy (Aurora Bradshaw), reports the Daily Star.
Whilst working as a chef at the Rovers, Ollie has been getting acquainted with barmaid Lauren – it’s evident that there’s chemistry between them after some playful banter across the bar.
However, one person who isn’t thrilled about their budding romance is Ollie’s grandmother Maggie – she’s made it clear she believes Lauren isn’t suitable for her grandson.

Since arriving on the cobbles, it’s been evident that Maggie is fiercely protective of her family. A flashback episode disclosed that she accidentally killed her former husband, and she also assisted her grandson Will in evading consequences after he assaulted Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).
This week, when Ollie invited Lauren on a date, Maggie responded with disapproval, informing Lauren that she and Ollie were from “very different sides of the tracks”. Subsequently, it seemed Maggie’s remarks had an impact on Lauren, who ultimately cancelled the date with Ollie.
However, fans now worry that an overly-protective Maggie – who accidentally killed her former husband – might end up murdering Lauren. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer said: “Lauren needs to be careful.”
Another person added: “Yeah I have a bad feeling Maggie is going to do something.” Forecasting a murder storyline, a third wrote: “I can see her killing or at least trying to kill Lauren.” A fourth commented: “Same here.”
