The road has since been closed by emergency services
A building has collapsed onto a white Audi north of the city centre resulting in a road closure. A road closure is currently in place on Regent Street following bricks falling from a building.
They have landed on a white Audi with photos showing a cordon in place on the narrow street. A spokesperson from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called at 9.31am before arriving on scene just a few minutes later, with two fire engines and a search and rescue team attending.
The spokesperson said it was a side fascia that had fallen onto cars and the road from the six storey building.
They continued to say outer brickwork from the sixth and ground floor have come away from the building damaging three vehicles parked below, and there was further sign of external cracks to the brickwork.
A cordon was set up by firefighters and a nearby business was forced to evacuate and close as a safety procedure. No one is believed to be injured in the incident.
Merseyside Police has also since attended the scene and made contact with the owner of the property.
A structural engineer has attended the scene, with fire service handing the scene over before leaving at shortly after 11am.
The cordon is still believed to be in place, with photos showing a white Audi inside the blocked off portion of road.
