That came after 2025’s Four Nations Face Off, hosted by The National Hockey League (NHL), where Canada beat the US 3-2 in the finals in overtime. The tournament between Canada, the US, Finland, and Sweden, took place amid political tensions between Ottawa and Washington. The President stoked the rivalry, referring to then Prime Minister Trudeau as “governor”.He also stated his desire to make the country America’s 51st state and threatened to impose tariffs on Canada. In the Winter Olympics however, Team USA took home the gold 2-1 in overtime thanks to a golden goal from New Jersey Devil’s Jack Hughes, who had his two front teeth missing. After his goal which came just over a minute in overtime, the American hockey player said: “This is all about our country right now. I love the USA.”I’m so proud to be American today. I love my country, I love my teammates. That’s American hockey right there. That’s a great Canadian team, but this means so much. We are such a team.”The USA brotherhood in this team is so strong, so much support from ex-players. I cannot believe this. It could have gone either way tonight.”LATEST FROM THE WHITE HOUSEPolice reveal identity of Mar-a-Lago intruder after he was shot dead at Donald Trump’s resortChagos deal collapse could see Britain cough up billions as Donald Trump threatens to scupper planDonald Trump reveals cryptic plan to send 65,000-tonne Navy ship to Greenland – ‘It’s on the way!’Team USA also received a congratulatory phone call from the PresidentCoach Mike Sullivan said: “He just spoke to the group expressing how proud he was of the group and congratulating everybody on the win. Ice Hockey team. THEY WON THE GOLD. WOW!”Vice President JD Vance also gave his praise to Team USA’s goalscorer. He said: “Heart full of pride for his country and a few front teeth gone missing.
