JD Vance open to Congress calling Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor for testimony

Vice President JD Vance has said he would be open to supporting cross-party efforts in Congress to call Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to give testimony regarding his association with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.Vice President Vance referenced remarks made by Sir Keir Starmer over the weekend.”I saw Keir Starmer said something about this,” the Vice President stated. “I’m certainly open to it.”However, he emphasised that Republican lawmakers in Congress would ultimately determine whether to pursue Andrew’s testimony.”I’ll let them determine whether they should talk to Prince Andrew. I’d certainly be open to it. But it’s their call, not mine,” he continued to tell the Mail. The Prime Minister had urged on Saturday that anyone possessing relevant information should be willing to share it to assist Epstein’s victims.Documents released by the Justice Department on Friday contained photographs that appear to show Andrew leaning over a woman while his hand rested on her waist. The files also revealed email correspondence that suggests Andrew remained in communication with Epstein for more than two years following the financier’s 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor. These exchanges included discussions about potential business arrangements and social gatherings.Among the correspondence was a message from Epstein to Andrew in August 2010 regarding a woman who could meet him in London. “She 26, russian, clevere [sic] beautiful, trustworthy and yes she has your email,” Epstein wrote.Whether this meeting ever took place remains unclear.A Russian woman who had been introduced to Andrew through Epstein subsequently thanked the convicted sex offender for “a really special adventure” in an email.Mr Vance asserted that the released documents cleared Donald Trump of any wrongdoing, despite the President’s friendship with Epstein from the 1990s until the mid-2000s.President Trump has claimed he ended the relationship after witnessing “creepy” behaviour towards young women at his Mar-a-Lago club.”[Trump] knows a lot of these people. He certainly has similar wealth and power. But he never really was friendly with Epstein in a way that a lot of these other people were,” Mr Vance maintained.Andrew, who was observed driving and riding near Windsor on Monday, has not responded to the latest disclosures but has consistently denied any wrongdoing.King Charles removed his brother’s duke and prince titles in October amid renewed scrutiny of the Epstein connection following the posthumous publication of Virginia Giuffre’s memoir. Mrs Giuffre, who accused Andrew of sexual abuse, died last April.Mrs Giuffre had alleged three sexual encounters with Andrew when she was 17. He reached an out-of-court settlement with her in 2022 to resolve her civil lawsuit, with no admission of guilt. The former royal previously declined an invitation to provide a deposition to the US House Oversight Committee following an earlier document release in November. That letter referenced financial records mentioning “massages for Andrew” and a 2011 email in which he told Epstein: “We are in this together.”Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter
