A US Congressman has been removed from the State of the Union address after launching a scathing protest against President Donald Trump.Representative Al Green was escorted out just minutes after Mr Trump took to the stage to commence his address.The Democrat lawmaker from Texas was holding a handwritten sign reading: “Black People Aren’t Apes!”Speaking to CNN afterwards, the 78-year-old said: “I wanted the President to see it, and he saw it, and I told him, Black people are not apes, and for him to do what he did was racist, and he knows it.

“But sometimes we have to let him know in the public that we know it.”The sign referenced a video Mr Trump shared which depicted Barack and Michelle Obama as monkeys.The minute-long clip showed several US politicians portrayed as different animals.
