Israel will on Sunday partially open the Rafah crossing – a vital gateway linking Gaza and Egypt, which has remained largely closed for more than 18 months. The crossing will initially be opened to foot traffic, but Israel has not yet said how many people will be allowed to cross and whether those seeking to return to Gaza will be permitted entry.
