Michael Carrick wants Marcus Rashford back at Old Trafford next season if he is kept on as Manchester United manager, according to reports.
Rashford was allowed to join Barcelona on loan last summer after being frozen out of United’s first team by Ruben Amorim.
United were also looking to get Rashford, who earns £325,000-a-week, off their wage bill and did not include a January recall clause as part of their agreement with Barcelona.
Rashford has recaptured his form at Barcelona this season with nine goals and 12 assists in 31 appearances so far.
Barcelona have the option to turn Rashford’s loan into a permanent deal for £26 million at the end of the season and the Spanish champions are keen on keeping the England forward at Camp Nou.

However, The Telegraph reports that Carrick ‘would like’ Rashford back at United this summer if the club extend his stay as manager beyond this season.

The report adds that Rashford is happy at Camp Nou and Barcelona are expected to make an offer to United.
Carrick, meanwhile, played alongside Rashford for three seasons at United and also coached the 28-year-old during their time together at Old Trafford.
Speaking about Rashford’s future at Barcelona, Hansi Flick said last month: ‘Deco and I always speak about our team and what we can do.
‘Marcus’ performances have been really good until now, but we have to manage it. It’s Deco’s job and the club’s job to work on next season so we have to wait.
‘We still have plenty more time, there are many months, many days, many weeks ahead of us, and that’s how it is.’
