The charity belonging to Sarah Ferguson, ex-wife of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has confirmed its closure mere days after fresh disclosures regarding the former duchess’s association with convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Sarah’s Trust will shut down “for the foreseeable future” following “some months” of deliberation, a spokesperson confirmed.
Last Friday, January 30, saw the US Department of Justice release over three million documents connected to Epstein, seemingly shedding further light on his interactions with both Andrew and Sarah.
Last night, Monday February 2, a spokesperson for Sarah’s Trust stated: “Our chair Sarah Ferguson and the board of trustees have agreed that with regret the charity will shortly close for the foreseeable future.
“This has been under discussion and in train for some months.
“We remain extremely proud of the work of the trust over recent years.
“We have partnered with over 60 other charities in over 20 countries, providing education, healthcare, crisis response and environmental projects.
“We delivered over 150,000 aid parcels during the Covid pandemic, provided medical aid and training for those affected by the war in Ukraine and delivered education for over 200 children in Ghana.”
Within the papers made public on Friday, Sarah seemingly confronts Epstein, stating “crystal clear to me that you were only friends with me to get to Andrew”. Within an email correspondence dated 21 September 2011, she seemingly writes: “Don’t know if you are still on this bbm but heard from The Duke that you have had a baby boy.
“Even though you never kept in touch, I still am here with love, friendship and congratualtions on your baby boy. Sarah xx”.
The email is subsequently followed by another message stating: “You have disappeared.
“I did not even know you were having a baby. It was soooo crystal clear to me that you were only friends with me to get to Andrew. And that really hurt me deeeply . More than you will know.”
Additional emails also disclosed that:
- During March 2011, Epstein requested publicist Mike Sitrick to “draft a statement that in an ideal world Fergie would put out” days following Sarah’s comments to the Evening Standard expressing “deep regret” regarding her connections with Epstein.
- The subsequent month, “Sarah” sent Epstein an email insisting she “did not” and “would not” refer to him as a “P” and that her actions were intended to “protect my own brand”
- Epstein informed others “Fergie said she could organise tea in Buckingham Palace apts.. or Windsor Castle” during 2009.
- Following his release from custody, Epstein enquired of “Sarah” whether there was “any chance of your daughters saying hello” to an unidentified individual while they were in London during July 2010. “Sarah” responded by saying: “Beatrice is in London with her father. Eugie is away with a cool boyfriend.”
- In August 2009, “Sarah” thanked Epstein for “being the brother I have always wished for” and she has “never been more touched by a friends kindness”.
- In April 2009, “Sarah” emailed Epstein calling him “my dear spectacular and special friend Jeffrey” and a “legend,” adding that she is “so proud” of him.
- In July 2009, “Sarah” emailed Epstein to discuss lunch arrangements in Miami, telling him: “It will be myself, Beatrice and Eugenie.”
All these communications are dated following Epstein’s 2008 conviction for procuring minors for prostitution.
Additional material within the document release includes screenshots and scans that appear to reveal Andrew corresponding with Epstein regarding a “beautiful” Russian woman, whilst extending an invitation to Buckingham Palace.
Charles stripped the former Duke of York of his titles last year following the posthumous release of a book by Virginia Giuffre, who also claimed she was trafficked by Epstein and his former partner Ghislaine Maxwell at age 17.
Andrew paid millions to Ms Giuffre, a woman he maintains he has never encountered, to resolve a civil sexual assault case in 2022.
The former prince has categorically denied any misconduct.
