There are a handful of beautiful spots dotted around Liverpool
Cherry blossom season is just around the corner once our chilly winter comes to an end. There are parks, green spaces and public gardens fortunate enough to boast these trees, which enhance the beauty of their surroundings an make for a stunning photo backdrop.
Cherry blossom is a classic sign of spring, but exactly when cherry trees bloom in the UK varies depending on the location and the weather. Most of the common cherry trees can begin blooming as early as the start of February, although they typical appear towards the end of the month.
Mild winters can result in the trees flowering earlier, sometimes in March, but in cooler years they might not do so until May. Cherry blossom enthusiasts only have a brief period to appreciate them in all their splendour before they turn green for summer.
Fortunately, we’ve compiled a list of a few places where you can capture your Instagram-worthy shots when they are ready.
Botanic Park and Gardens, Wavertree
Just across from Edge Lane lies the stunning Botanic Park and Gardens. Open year-round, it’s particularly striking when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
You can walk through the path under all of the cherry blossoms. The gardens meanwhile are a lovely well-kept part of the park and it is a peaceful haven of tranquillity.
Sefton Park
A cluster of cherry blossom trees creates a stunning sight – and you can witness this spectacle in Sefton Park.
In addition to pink and white, the blossoms can occasionally appear in yellow, gold and green. They are scattered throughout the park, making long walks a delight when they are awash with colour.
Menlove Avenue, Woolton
There beneath the blue suburban skies on Menlove Avenue in Woolton are a number of healthy cherry blossom trees to admire.
This is a brilliant spot in a pretty suburban area and is a great place to catch them in their dazzling best when they are in full bloom.
Greenbank Park, Mossley Hill
Greenbank Park is a delightful and serene spot when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. The park boasts several cherry blossom trees near the lake.
It’s a good place to go for a walk or enjoy a well-earned rest in the spring sunshine. You can get access to the park via Greenbank Road, Greenbank Lane and Gorsebank Road, which is off Smithdown Road.
St John’s Gardens
Tucked behind St George’s Hall in the heart of Liverpool city centre, you’ll find the charming St John’s Gardens. Among the memorials and statues to notable people of the city, there are cherry blossom trees. They look lovely when sitting down on a bench watching the world go by.
Calderstones Road
The cherry blossom trees lining Calderstones Road are a sight to behold, boasting a spectrum of colours. At times they appear light green, at others light blue, white, and of course, pink.
Whether you’re walking your dog or simply enjoying a solitary stroll, these trees add a touch of charm to your journey.
Toxteth
When the cherry blossom bloom on Upper Harrington Street in Toxteth it seems to hang over the road like a big pink cloud.
The scene looks particularly beautiful in the sunshine and they make you feel good on a walk in to work in the city centre.
