Gary Barlow was “excited” to meet Traitors star Stephen Libby
The Traitors fans were in stitches at a hilarious crossover between winner Stephen Libby and band Take That. The popular BBC programme had the nation gripped over the last month. Approximately 9.4m viewers tuned into the finale episode on Friday which saw two Traitors Rachel Duffy, 42, Stephen Libby, 32, claim the prize.
Rachel and Stephen breezed through three weeks of lies, deceit and betrayal and became worthy winners of this year’s prize pot. The two Traitors played a great game, banishing the Faithful players which meant they could each take home £47,875 of the £95,750 prize pot.
While it was a civilian version of the show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the players are already instantly recognisable after being on the majority of our screens since the start of the year.
The contestants have done their fair share of extra TV work since appearing on the show, whether it’s chatting to Ed Gamble on Uncloaked or speaking about their experience on This Morning with Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard.
Stephen Libby appeared on This Morning today (Monday, January 26) as well as on BBC Radio 2 with Scott Mills.
But while he was in the studio, Stephen found himself being asked for a photo by Take That. The group, made up of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen were “excited” to meet The Traitors star, which Stephen thought was “ridiculous”.
Take That have been promoting their new Netflix series which launches on Tuesday. The series recounts their rise to fame from early beginnings through to their dramatic split and subsequent comeback, with rare behind-the-scenes footage.
But fans noticed Gary Barlow “fanboying” when he met Stephen from The Traitors at BBC studios this morning.
In a video posted on social media, Scott Mills introduced Stephen to the group. He said: “Take That, it’s Stephen everyone!” The three bandmates gave a round of applause before Gary said: “We’re so excited to meet you!”
Howard and Mark offered their congratulations after Stephen’s win on the BBC programme. Howard said: “I really thought he was going to take the money and run”, but Gary said: “I’m glad you didn’t.”
Stephen said: “The guilt wasn’t worth it, honestly.”
When he realised the legendary band were excited to meet him, he laughed and said: “Oh my, this is ridiculous.”
Gary made small talk with the Scottish star, telling him: “The town you come from looks incredible!” Stephen said: “You’ve got to come. My mum’s invited half of London already.”
Gary asked: “Can we get a picture with you?” as Stephen said: “Absolutely.”
Fans rushed to the comments after the incredible “crossover”, with many in disbelief at Gary Barlow asking Stephen for a photo.
One said: “Loving the fact that Take That are fanboying over Stephen and asking him for a pic, that’s so lovely.”
A second added: “Love this for Stephen! How sweet.” A third said: “Gary Barlow being the one to ask Stephen for a pic!!!”
A fourth said: “Take That asking for a picture with you, not the other way around made me DIE.” A fifth said: “Aaaaaw love love love this. Delighted for Stephen…. Ya lucky guy.”
Another added: “How lovely! Love the fact that the boys watched The Traitors!”
Stephen re-shared the post to his story, adding: “What the f*** is going on?” with a pink love heart emoji.
