The new documentary will explore Sir Paul’s life after The Beatles
A new documentary about the life of Sir Paul McCartney is set to air next month. A trailer has been released for the documentary called “Paul McCartney: Man On The Run.” It focusses on McCartney’s life after The Beatles, including unseen footage and archive materials.
“Man On The Run” tells the story of how he developed Wings with his late wife, Linda. A trailer was released on Tuesday which included some clips taken from the documentary with Sir Paul’s voiceover. The post was captioned: “Finding the space to spread your wings. Paul McCartney: Man on the Run, streaming February 27.”
Sir Paul talks about The Beatles’ break-up, which shocked the world in 1970. He also talks about dealing with life after the group, as he admitted he thought he would never write “another note of music” again.
In the trailer, Sir Paul said: “I had a fear of being a grown up. I fell very depressed, but I was very lucky, because I had Linda.”
Directed by Morgan Neville, its producers said it will show Sir Paul “as he faces emotional, artistic, and personal challenges while defining a new decade of music”.
Following The Beatles’ separation, Sir Paul and Linda went on to start Wings in 1971 with former Moody Blues guitarist Denny Laine.
Sir Paul said: “We started Wings from square one. it was about trying to do something different.”
They recorded seven studio albums including Band On The Run in 1973, before their split in 1981.
Wings achieved 12 UK top 10 singles including a number one with Mull Of Kintyre, and eight UK top 10 albums.
The band is best known for songs such as Jet, Silly Love Songs and Live And Let Die, the theme to the 1973 James Bond film.
Sir Paul’s impressive career meant he made a name for himself as one of Liverpool’s greatest sons. Born in Walton in 1942, McCartney formed an unbeatable song-writing collaboration with John Lennon to power The Beatles to becoming one of the greatest bands of all time.
He wrote many well-known songs including Yesterday, Eleanor Rigby, Blackbird, The Long and Winding Road and Let It Be to name just a few.
He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1997 and is a two-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. First with The Beatles in 1988 and once again as a solo artist in 1999. He also founded the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA).
Paul McCartney: Man on the Run will be available to watch on February 27
