Alexis Mac Allister’s partner was in attendance as the midfielder was in action on Monday evening as Liverpool FC took on League One side Barnsley in the FA Cup third round. The tie ended 4-1, with goals coming from Szoboszlai, Frimpong, Wirtz and Ekitike. The Reds progressed to the fourth round where they will face Brighton at Anfield.
Mac Allister’s proud girlfriend, Ailen Cova, watched as he assisted an impressive goal taken by Szoboszlai more than 25 yards out. After the game, Ailen took to Instagram to share an adorable snap from Anfield. A picture of their baby was shared with the pitch in the background.
Ailen captioned the post “fan #1 de papi”, which translates to “Daddy’s number one fan” in Spanish. The footballer’s partner announced her pregnancy in March 2025 with a video of a positive pregnancy test as she hugged Mac Allister.
The couple, who have been together since 2022, welcomed their baby girl Alaia on Sunday September 22. In a heartfelt joint statement translated from Spanish, it said: “Alaia – 22/09/2025. After 18 hours of suffering came the most beautiful and special moment of our lives.”
Mac Allister shared a separate message for his partner, it said: “A paragraph just for you, my love. I’m proud of your strength and the love you showed to overcome this and give us the greatest gift in the world. I love you.”
The FA cup tie wasn’t the first game his girlfriend and daughter had attended together. They were also present in one of Anfield’s most memorable nights in recent years. Liverpool clinched a 1-0 victory against Spanish giants Real Madrid in November 2025.
Mac Allister headed home from a free-kick into the box from Dominik Szoboszlai in the 61st minute. Ailen shared a photo holding their baby as she stood in the stands ahead of kick-off. She said: “First game. We love you dad.”
The Reds’ midfielder shared the post to his own account as he wrote “para siempre”, which translates to “forever”. A separate photo uploaded by Mac Allister showed him holding his baby in one arm and his Champions League Man of the Match award in the other.
After the birth of Alaia, fellow Liverpool players sent messages of congratulations to the Red. Ryan Gravenberch, who himself has only recently become a father, responded with two love heart eye emojis. Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai replied with two red heart emojis.
Former Liverpool man Trent Alexander-Arnold, who completed a summer move to Real Madrid, wrote: “Congratulations” along with three red heart emojis. Fellow summer departee Kostas Tsimikas also sent two red heart emojis.
World Cup winner Mac Allister arrived at Liverpool FC in the summer of 2023 from Brighton and Hove Albion. The midfielder claimed the No. 10 shirt upon his arrival to Anfield, taking the squad number last taken by Sadio Mane after signing a long-term deal.
