Kerry Katona says she’d be “heartbroken” if one of her five children turned on her publicly
Kerry Katona is “absolutely devastated” for Victoria Beckham in the wake of her son Brooklyn Peltz Beckham’s shocking public statement criticising his family.
The Atomic Kitten singer, aged 45, confessed that she would be “heartbroken” if any of her five children publicly criticised her in a similar manner, acknowledging that Brooklyn’s lengthy Instagram post last week was a direct attack on his family. In her column for new! magazine, Kerry shared: “I am absolutely devastated for Victoria Beckham after Brooklyn shared his bombshell statement.
“All I can think of is being the mum in that situation.
“I’d be heartbroken if one of my children turned on me like that so publicly.
“David and Victoria have said nothing directly but Brooklyn has gone for the jugular.”
While David and Victoria have remained silent on the matter, Kerry noted that Brooklyn had not held back in his criticism.
Brooklyn’s statement included a firm declaration that he does “not want to reconcile” with his family due to their relationship with his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham.
Nicola has faced some backlash over the situation, but Kerry – mother to Molly, 24, and Lilly-Sue, 22, from her first marriage to Brian McFadden, Heidi, 18, and Max, 17, from her second marriage to Mark Croft, and DJ, 11, from her third marriage to the late George Kay – firmly places the responsibility on Brooklyn.
She said: “I’m not blaming Nicola, I’m blaming Brooklyn. He’s a grown man.”
“I don’t know how you come back from that, which is so sad, as it’s clear how much David and Victoria love their children.”
Brooklyn has levelled accusations against his parents, Victoria and Sir David Beckham, alleging they attempted to “ruin” his relationship with actress Nicola, 31, prior to their 2022 nuptials. He also claimed that fashion mogul Victoria “hijacked my first dance with my wife” on their wedding day.
The budding chef maintained that Nicola has been “consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one”.
Kerry’s daughter Heidi discussed the ongoing Beckham family dispute on television last week , and the singer was “really proud” of her daughter.
She said: “What shocks people about my kids is how they know their manners and how well they speak.
“I might be ‘common as muck’, but my children aren’t.
“Heidi looked beautiful and was very articulate.
“She was slightly nervous beforehand, but I was nearby, and I think that helped.
“Plus, I couldn’t help but do my little cameo at the end – with no make-up and my pyjamas on.”
