Police raided properties in two Liverpool areas earlier this week
Cash, drugs and weapons have been seized after a man was spotted “acting suspiciously”. Merseyside Police said that officers from EVOLVE Everton-Vauxhall were on plain clothes patrol in Kirkdale on Monday, January 19 after receiving information from the community about drug dealing and use in the area.
Officers then spotted a man leaving a property and acting suspiciously, leading them to believe he had been involved in a possible drugs transaction. They arrested the man and entered the property.
Inside, they discovered two other men. One of them reportedly had numerous wraps of suspected Class A drugs hidden in his underwear. Following a search of the property, quantities of suspected Class B (ketamine) and C drugs (pregabalin) as well as cash were discovered.
Two men, aged 44 and 65, from Kirkdale, and a 23-year-old man from Sefton were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and C drugs, possession of Class B drugs and possession of criminal property.
All three were taken to a police station in Merseyside for questioning and have subsequently been released under investigation.
In addition, officers from EVOLVE Everton-Vauxhall, which is one of Merseyside’s four Clear, Hold, Build areas designed to rebuild communities worst affected by serious and organised crime, arrested a fourth man on Tuesday January 20.
Officers in plain clothes said they spotted a man taking part in a suspected drug deal at an alley gate near to Breck Road in Everton and saw him enter a property. Officers then entered the address by force.
A search of the property led to the recovery of a large amount of suspected Class A drugs (cocaine and heroin), cannabis, nitrous oxide, cash and offensive weapons.
A 22-year-old man from Everton was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, possession of Class B and C drugs, possession of criminal property and possession of an offensive weapon inside a dwelling.
Chief Inspector Andrew Fielding, one of the senior officers from EVOLVE Everton-Vauxhall, said: “Drugs activity and weapons bring real harm and risk into our communities.
“They fuel violence, exploitation and fear, and that will not be tolerated.
“Our work in EVOLVE areas is about protecting residents, disrupting those who cause harm and reassuring people that we are listening and taking action.
“We act on intelligence from the public every day and that information directly leads to arrests, seizures and safer streets.
“If you tell us what is happening we will take action.”
