One of the top Brexit negotiators has hit out at Labour for the Government’s attempt to bring Britain closer to the EU. Sir Keir Starmer and his Cabinet colleagues are creeping towards a closer alignment with Brussels as they gear up to unveil new Brexit legislation returning power back to Brussels.Neither MPs nor the public will have to vote on the matter, leaving the future of Britain’s relationship with the bloc under the direction of Sir Keir.No10 hopes the deal will underpin the UK’s relationship with the EU after Brussels struck an accord on food standards with Labour last year.

Now, sitting down on GB News with host Camilla Tominey, Lord David Frost – who was Mr Johnson’s Chief Negotiator for Exiting the European Union and later became the then-PM’s Europe Adviser until 2021 – warned Sir Keir of danger of “resetting” relations with the bloc.He told Camilla: “We’re now seeing what was always the logical consequence of Labour’s policy. “Their policy was based on this fallacy that Brexit and the trade agreement had done economic damage, which needed to be repaired by a new deal. “What they’re finding is that’s not true. Their only option is to go back into the EU’s legal framework for things like food, carbon costs, energy, electricity costs. “That’s what this Bill is now going to do. And what it’s going to do is deprive us of the ability to set our own rules for our own interests, in our own country.”It’s going to make us subject to what Brussels decides to do in this area, and we will get no say. This is the whole risk.”The Liberal Democrats have put forward a 10 Minute Rule Bill, supported by more than a dozen Labour MPs, to rejoin the EU’s customs union.”Do you accept that these Remainers are never going to let this go?” Camilla questioned.IS BRITAIN ON THE BRINK OF A BREXIT BETRAYAL? READ MORE:Keir Starmer’s ‘Brexit Betrayal Bill’ torpedoed as bombshell report exposes the great Remainer lieBritain ‘to be forced back into EU net zero scheme under Labour’s Brexit Betrayal Bill’Keir Starmer set to unveil ‘Brexit Betrayal Bill’ to hand power to EU without any say from votersThe chief Brexiteer agreed: “There’s a kind of hard core remain establishment that would like to see us back in the EU. “It’s taking every step they can to kind of come up with something that shifts us in that direction. I don’t think most voters, most people out there really are up for another Brexit argument. “I think it’s settled and you and I might need a defibrillator if that happens. What we should, should concentrate on what the Government, what the Opposition, what everybody should concentrate on is running our own country better. “That’s what they’re paid to do.”Despite Sir Keir vowing not to bring Britain back into the customs union, Lord Frost accused the Prime Minister of misleading the public. He said: “Well, he already is rejoining bits of the single market. The single market isn’t a thing that you are kind of a complete member of or not. You can be in bits of the single market. And that’s exactly what these are you saying.”He’s misleading on this issue. We are drifting back into the single market bit by bit.”This week, it was revealed Labour was drafting up a Bill to hand overarching powers to let Britain bond more closely with the Union with a sweeping set of “reset” measures. The range of content is believed to be widespread, from food stands and animal welfare to the electricty market and carbon emissions trading.A UK official told Politico they expect a draft to be presented to Parliament in the spring or summer of 2026.Our Standards:
