Stars from Coronation Street and Emmerdale “spilled the beans” on Corriedale

Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd has “spilled the beans” on a major Corriedale “death” spoiler. With Christmas around the corner, it was finally time for the annual soap quiz when teams from two of the nation’s favourite soaps go head-to-head. Hosted by Stephen Mulhern, “The Big Quiz” sees teams from Emmerdale and Coronation Street test who knows their soap the best.

Team captain Jack P Shepherd (David Platt) tested his soap knowledge alongside Georgia Taylor (Toyah) Jodie Prenger (Glenda) and Sam Aston (Chesney).

Over on the Emmerdale squad was team captain Mark Charnock (Marlon Dingle) and his co-stars Lucy Pargeter (Chas), Bradley Riches (Lewis) and Shebz (Kammy).

Stephen Mulhern set the players off with different styles of questions set to test their knowledge skills. The first game was a quick-fire question round.

But the ITV host was quick to halt gameplay to address the elephant in the room- “Corriedale”. ITV recently confirmed a first for both soaps in an exciting crossover episode.

Filming has already taken place for the hour-long broadcast which is due to air on January 5. The episode will mark a piece of soap history when the worlds of the cobbles and the fictional Yorkshire village will intertwine for the first time.

During The Big Quiz on Monday night, Stephen Mulhern introduced “Corriedale” before an exclusive trailer was shared with viewers. The host said to the actors: “In a landmark first for both soaps, you have been seeing quite a lot of each other recently.

“I’m talking about the upcoming Corrie and Emmerdale crossover episode of ‘Corriedale’.” He added: “Spill the beans.”

Lucy Pargeter, who plays Chas Dingle in the Dales, was first to speak up on the exciting episode. The actress shared: “It’s a brilliant idea and you sort of think why hasn’t it been done before?”

She added: “Fans are buzzing for it and I think they’re interested to see how we can intertwine stories, characters, what parts of the village or the cobbles are going to be featured, who is going to get along and who is going to have an argument.”

Stephen asked Lucy: “How was it for you to go to the cobbles?” Lucy said: “I didn’t go anywhere, I just went kind of half way.”

Jack P Shepherd chimed in: “I went the full way I saw everything.” When asked what fans can expect from the episode, the David Platt actor shared: “People will die”, before he joked: “And people will live.”

Viewers were then provided with a jam-packed trailer ahead of Corriedale’s official premiere next month. Characters confirmed to be part of the unique episode include David Platt, Tracy Barlow, Liam Cavanagh, Aaron Dingle and Lisa Swain.

Others include Corrie’s Kit Green, James Bailey, Asha Alahan, Carla Connor and Shona Platt as well as Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle, Sarah Sugden, Charity Dingle, Jacob Gallagher, Robert Sugden and Joe Tate.
