Firefighters were called to a pub on Renshaw Street
Fire crews were called to a city centre pub this evening (Saturday) after a “smell of gas” was reported. Firefighters were called to Danny Mac’s Tavern to reports of a gas smell on the second floor.
A call was made to Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service at 10.36pm. Two fire engines were scrambled, arriving at the pub on the corner of Renshaw Street and Oldham Street within six minutes.
Images from the scene show people standing around the entrance with two fire engines parked up nearby. A spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters had used a gas detector.
Each part of the pub was checked over, with all readings coming back at zero, the Fire Service spokesperson said. Firefighters have now left the scene.
