Mr Vance is among those due to speak at the America Fest 2025 conference, which is being held in Phoenix, Arizona, until Sunday. The Vice President also spoke at a memorial service for conservative activist Mr Kirk following his death, describing him as “fearless” and “bold”.Speaking at the service, he said: “[Charlie Kirk] transformed the face of Conservatism in our own time and in doing so, he changed the course of American history.”To rising generations across this country, Charlie exemplified kindness, courage and a commitment to open debate and he was a great debater and we loved him for it.”But Charlie loved debate not because he excelled at it, but because it was the vehicle of bringing the light of truth to dark places and Charlie Kirk bought many truths in his life.””He was fearless and he was bold as any follower would hope would be true of a leader, and in this, he showed all of us how to carry on after his death,” he added.Mr Kirk was killed during a Turning Point USA event on the campus of Utah Valley University on September 10.His alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, made his first in-person court appearance on December 11.LATEST US NEWS:Jeffrey Epstein survivor blasts release of redacted files: ‘A slap in the face!’Jake Paul gives health update from hospital bed after Anthony Joshua knockoutDonald Trump hits Isis with ‘massive strike’ after terrorists kill three Americans in SyriaThe 22-year-old is accused of firing a single round from a rooftop that killed Mr Kirk during the university event. He is charged with seven criminal counts, including aggravated murder, obstruction of justice for disposing of evidence, and witness tampering for asking his roommate to delete incriminating texts.Prosecutors said they would seek the death penalty against Robinson, who has yet to enter a plea to the charges against him.His two court appearances prior to December 11 were conducted remotely, the first via video link and the second through audio only.Robinson’s legal team and the Utah County Sheriff’s Office requested that Judge Tony Graf prohibit cameras from the courtroom entirely. The judge has already made certain concessions to protect Robinson’s presumption of innocence, acknowledging the case has attracted “extraordinary” public attention.Media outlets have been barred from filming or photographing Robinson in restraints, with his lawyers arguing that widespread images of him shackled and wearing jail clothing could prejudice potential jurors.Much of the case has proceeded behind closed doors, with both sides jointly moving to classify audio and transcripts from a closed October hearing as “private”.Mrs Kirk has voiced her frustration at the restrictions shielding the accused from public view.”There were cameras all over my husband when he was murdered,” she said.”There have been cameras all over my friends and family mourning. There have been cameras all over me, analysing my every move, analysing my every smile, my every tear. We deserve to have cameras in there,” the widow added. Our Standards:
