‘Grotesque’: Lindsey Graham slammed for blaming shutdown on Dem ‘political terrorism’

Raw Story reports that Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo Sunday that the historic government shutdown will end “today” and that the Democrats were guilty of “political terrorism.”“I think this madness ends today! This political terrorism Democrats have been using – shutting down airports, people not getting paid, SNAP benefits going away – it’s backfiring,” Graham said. Also backfiring were Graham’s words, which were widely ridiculed and mocked on social media.”Lindsey Graham calling Democrats terrorists for refusing to let millions be thrown off healthcare is the most grotesque kind of projection, a truly stunning performance from a man who has spent forty days holding the government hostage to please his cult leader,” wrote Blue Sky influencer Tom Wellborn.Another on Blue Sky wrote, “Just bringing this banger of a tweet back today,” reposting Graham’s now famous 2016 tweet that said, “If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed…and we will deserve it.””So he’s taking time off from calling for the bombing of all countries,” X user Gerard Roth replied to Bartoromo.Graham called the ongoing government shutdown a “foolish exercise” by Democrats, while remaining adamant he will not vote to extend Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies as part of any funding deal to reopen the government. He is in favor of reopening the government immediately, with healthcare negotiations to follow later.During the 35-day shutdown during Trump’s first term, Graham suggested that caving on the proposed border wall could negatively impact the future of the Republican party. A deal was reached to fund the government through February 15, 2019, with negotiations on border security funding put off until a later date. The dispute over border wall funding continued, and the administration eventually found other ways to fund some border security measures.
