Elon Musk doesn’t want people to know he uses a laptop

Elon Musk’s legal battle with OpenAI and its founder, Sam Altman, can be boiled down to one of the most important questions of this millennium: Does Musk use a laptop or not? It’s a question that Musk’s lawyers have spent a considerable amount of time trying to avoid answering, Wired reported on Monday. Musk’s lawyers claimed in a Sunday court filing that Musk “does not use a laptop,” which seems to be misleading at best, based on the numerous examples the outlet cited where Musk either directly or indirectly refers to his laptop. For instance, Musk posted a picture of his laptop on his social media platform X in December. He claimed the laptop is three years old, and he doesn’t want to upgrade it because he would lose a “cool sticker” that he got while traveling in Germany. The post reads in part, “This is a pic of my laptop.” Earlier this year, Musk claimed he bought a new laptop. He also took to X to complain that the new laptop required him to create a Microsoft account before logging in. “There used to be an option to skip signing into or creating a Microsoft account,” Musk wrote. “Are you seeing this too?”Last month, Musk claimed that he was still using his “ancient” laptop. “Still using my ancient PC laptop with the @DOGE sticker made long ago by a fan,” another one of Musk’s X posts reads. So, why does the world’s richest man not want people to know he owns a laptop? The outlet reported that it might have something to do with Musk trying to evade the discovery process in his lawsuit against OpenAI. Evading the process would allow Musk to keep secrets that might embarrass him or one of his companies. Musk’s legal team has disputed that he is trying to resist the discovery efforts.
