STOCKHOLM :Canada sensationally crashed out of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship in the quarter-finals on Thursday, losing 2-1 to co-hosts Denmark in one of the biggest shocks in tournament history.
Sweden swept to a 5-2 win over Czech Republic and will now face Team USA, who beat Finland 5-2 in Stockholm earlier on Thursday.
Denmark were a goal down with less than three minutes to play when Nikolaj Ehlers equalised for them and then Nick Olesen snatched the winner with 49 seconds remaining on the clock to stun the tournament favourites.
Denmark will now take on Switzerland, who thrashed Austria 6-0, with both semi-finals taking place on Saturday at the Avicii Arena in the Swedish capital.
