The Chase star Bradley Walsh and his son Barney have addressed a common misunderstanding about their TV show, Bradley Walsh and Son: Breaking dad. The pair have filmed six series of the show together.
Each one sees them travelling around in a motorhome, experience different cultures and trying out different experiences. The current series, airing on ITV One, sees the pair journeying through Asia, visiting places like Bangkok in Thailand and Tokyo in Japan.
Previous series have taken them across South America, Europe, and the USA. Each road trip is undertaken in a large motorhome, with the first series in the USA featuring a 36-foot, 7.5 tonne RV.
However, some viewers have questioned whether former Coronation Street actor Bradley actually drives the vehicle. The presenter made the revelation on The Chris Evans show after the radio presenter joked “you’d want one”.
Bradley responded: “In the States we had unbelievable ones. The Fleetwoods we drove in the States. And I do drive them. People don’t think I drive them.”

Radio presenter Chris retorted: “Of course you drive them, it’s obvious, why don’t people think you drive them? You can see it on the telly.”
Barney revealed the behind-the-scenes reality of filming their show: “A lot of people write, ‘Bradley’s not driving that’ or, ‘they’re being towed’, and I’m just thinking, ‘can you imagine the logistics of not only going to the country, but getting Winnebago, hiring a tow truck company, getting it, and then removing to tow truck for the wide shots of looking back. It would just be massive.”
The duo’s on-screen adventures in Breaking Dad have won over audiences, earning applause for the genuine connection between Bradley Walsh, 64, and his son Barney, 27. They delved into the details of their unique bond during a segment on ITV’s This Morning, reports Gloucestershire Live.
Bradley said: “He has always been my son, and you always take care of them. But then all of a sudden he becomes your equal and a work colleague, and a mate, and someone you respect.”
The star added: “Now I look up to him. Barney, bless him, was directing me on some of the things ‘Dad don’t worry about this, you need to be thinking about this’, and actually producing me.”
When appearing on The Tommy Tiernan Show, Bradley said working alongside his son is “one of the most wonderful things” he’d done. He added: “Spending time with my lad from the age of 18, he’s now 26 by the way, was just extraordinary. It was the greatest thing.”
Bradley shares Barney with wife Donna Derby. He also has a daughter, Hayley Walsh, from a previous relationship.
Breaking Dad is available to watch on ITVX.
