A major road through South Liverpool was closed as the emergency services responded to a crash. Aigburth Road was closed heading southbound, between Ancaster Road and Ashfield Road just after 11.30pm on Saturday
Both marked and unmarked police vehicles were at the scene, alongside a number of fire and ambulance crews. At least one crashed car was visible in the closed-off part of the road, with police also stationed at the entrance to Mossley Hill Drive preventing vehicles from accessing Aigburth Road from that direction.
Buses running on the 82 and X4 routes were forced to divert along Mossley Hill Drive and down Ashfield Road to rejoin Aigburth Road at that point. Travel information service Inrix confirmed the closure of the road was due to an accident. The ECHO has attempted to contact Merseyside Police for more information.
