Bradley Walsh was “mind blown” by one question on The Chase as he admitted it was “frightening”. Kate, Michael, Anna and Guy made up the team of four players ready to test their chances against one of the UK’s best quizzers. Michael was first up to test his knowledge on the ITV game show with the hopes of taking home a whopping cash prize.
He earned £3,000 in his Cash Builder round as he was keen to triumph against Anne Hegarty aka The Governess. But Michael’s time on the quiz show soon came to an end after he was caught by The Chaser. Bradley Walsh said goodbye as the contestant went home empty-handed.
Anna was next up and hoped to make a better impression. She gave an excellent performance in the Cash Builder round, accumulating £4,000 to take through to her run against The Governess.
Bradley Walsh was left “mind blown” by one question on the ITV quiz show. He asked the player: “Eddie Redmayne starred in what 2012 musical film?” The options were: “Rock of Ages, Pitch Perfect and Les Misérables.”
The presenter was stunned to hear the movie musical was released over a decade ago. He said: “I think it is Les Misérables but I can’t believe that was ten years ago. It can’t be.” He added: “That is frightening how quickly that has gone.”
Anne also added to the conversation about the film. She explained: “I know it was 2012, because I remember in 2013, on my way to the States for the first time, being on a plane and watching the first 45 minutes and thinking ‘this is such a depressing film’ then watching Wreck It Ralph instead.”
Fans joined in on the conversation, reminiscing on when the movie was released. Taking to social media, one said: “When Bradley has his mind blown over Les Misérables being 13 years old.” More added to the conversation on X: “I remember watching Les Mis in the cinema” and “Fully agree Anne, Wreck It Ralph is miles better than Les Misérables.”
Returning to the game, Anna proved her general knowledge skills and successfully returned to her teammates. She kickstarted the shared prize pot ahead of Guy’s chance to take on The Chaser.
He bagged himself £4,000 after an impressive quick fire round. He decided to play it safe in his game against The Governess with the hopes of joining Anna in the final chase.
After a triumphant round, Guy managed to follow in Anna’s footsteps as he increased the shared cash prize to £8,000. Finally, Kate was the last contestant remaining, eager to join her teammates in the final round.
She performed excellently well, bagging an impressive £7,000 in her Cash Builder. Anne Hegarty said: “It looks like the brains of the team has suddenly turned up.”
Kate proved her endless knowledge as she also managed to return to her teammates, increasing the prize pot to £15,000 ahead of the final chase. Kate joined Guy and Anna who hoped to triumph against The Governess one last time.
The team of quizzers secured a solid score of fourteen, which proved to be too difficult for The Chaser. The three contestants were successful on the ITV show as they went home with £5,000 each.
Taking to social media, one fan said: “Well done them. Tragedy for Anne.” Another wrote: “Awwwww I’m happy for the team!! A win is always a GOOD win.”
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1.
