Viewers said they are “in for a treat” after the celebrity was revealed
Viewers have already crowned their “winner” of Celebrity Big Brother just minutes into the first episode of the new series. The second season of ITV’s reboot of the classic reality show arrived on screens at 9pm with a special live launch show. Last year’s edition saw a star-studded line up enter the Big Brother house that included Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh.
David Potts emerged as the eventual winner as he beat out Strictly Come Dancing’s Nikita Kuzmin and Coronation Street’s Colson Smith to win the prize.
Hosts Will Best and AJ Odudu returned to front the new season and welcomed a host of famous faces on to the show. Chesney Hawkes was the first celebrity to be revealed. The 53-year-old enjoyed chart success in the early 90s with the hit song, The One and Only.
He was given the first task in the house with the chance to win 400 points. He succeeded, after having to introduce himself as “the one and only Chesney Hawkes” to the next four housemates.
It was the second star who stepped foot in the legendary house which got fans talking. 21 year-old American singer, JoJo Siwa shot to fame for her stint on American reality TV series Dance Moms. She also competed on Dancing With The Stars, and regularly posts her daily vlogs on YouTube. She’s since racked up more than nine million subscribers and boasts more than 100 million views.
Taking to social media, one fan said: “JoJo Siwa going into #CelebrityBigBrother this is insane….” Other fans had mixed opinions as they added to the conversation on X: “JoJo Siwa in the big brother house is the best thing to happen to UK tv…”
TV presenter Trisha Goddard was the next star to be revealed. The 67-year-old is best known for her self-titled show which aired between 1998 and 2010. She was rocked with sad news 20 months ago when she was diagnosed with terminal secondary breast cancer, and she uses her platform to raise awareness on the condition.
Trisha was closely followed by former Love Islander Chris Hughes, who was in attendance at this year’s Grand National festival on Ladies Day. When he was quizzed on his future, he said: “I can’t tell you a lot to be honest. I’ve got a manager behind me whose giving me a jab in the back. Yeah, a busy few weeks coming up so we’ll see what happens.” He laughed: “You’ll get me in trouble.”
EastEnders star Patsy Palmer, known for her role as Bianca Jackson, also joined the star-studded cast. But she wasn’t the only soap star to make an appearance on the ITV show.
Fans were excited to see Coronation Street star Jack P. Shepherd make his way into the house. One said: “Jack is already my favourite to win Celebrity Big Brother”, “David Platt is my winner already” and “If Jack P. Shepherd is only half as sarcastic and funny as David Platt we are in for a treat!!”
Jack has played Weatherfield troublemaker David Platt on the ITV soap for 25 years. During the live show, he revealed he had asked his close friend Colson Smith for his advice before entering the Big Brother House.
Colson played Craig Tinker on the Cobbles for 13 years, and also came third in Celebrity Big Brother 2024. The two actors co-host the On The Sofa podcast, where they discuss the ins and outs of what life is really like on the soap.
Jack P. Shepherd is already a firm-favourite with viewers, with three weeks of secret missions, tasks and evictions set to take place before the series comes to an end.
Ex-politician Michael Fabricant also made his way into the house, followed by TOWIE star Ella Rae wise, Olympian Daley Thompson, comedian Donna Preston and former Martin Lewis Money show co-host, Angellica Bell.
Big Brother airs every night at 9pm on ITV.
