Sailing-SailGP announces 2026 venues across five continents

LONDON – From Perth’s sun-drenched waters to Abu Dhabi’s glittering finale, SailGP’s high-powered catamarans will fly across five continents in 2026, with the championship unveiling a roster of crowd-pleasing venues secured under multi-year hosting deals.

The SailGP Championship will chart a course through Perth, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Bermuda, New York, Halifax, Portsmouth, Saint-Tropez and Dubai before a winner-takes-all Grand Final in Abu Dhabi, with additional harbours still to be revealed.

“We’ve had unprecedented interest from cities around the world,” SailGP CEO Sir Russell Coutts said on Wednesday. “That includes world-class racing in some of the most iconic stadium destinations we’ve visited to date, and extending our presence in Australia with a first-time event in Perth.”

The 2026 calendar follows SailGP’s regionalised format, launching in Australia in January before sweeping through the Americas and into a European summer leg, concluding with back-to-back UAE events in November.

“Destinations like New York and Saint-Tropez have become cornerstone events of the SailGP calendar, with their stunning backdrops, rich sporting histories, and enthusiastic fanbases,” Coutts added.

The championship, currently featuring 12 national teams including the recently added Mubadala Brazil and Red Bull Italy squads, plans to expand with two additional teams in 2026.

“Long-term hosting agreements allow SailGP to build an enduring legacy in the cities we visit, and become tentpole events on the local sporting calendar,” Coutts said.
