This doesn’t seem the work of a wholly rational and responsible person.“Conservatives who make excuses for Trump because he sometimes does things they like should stop doing so.”Global markets surged on the news of this unexpected policy shift.Trump announced the policy change on his Truth Social platform, stating: “I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125 per cent, effective immediately.”In the same post, he explained the pause for other nations: “I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10 per cent, also effective immediately.”The decision appears to narrow what had been a global trade conflict to one primarily between the US and China.US stock markets responded positively to the announcement.
