An Emmerdale actress has revealed she has said goodbye to the soap as fans have wished her good luck for the future. Paula Lane took to Instagram to say “thank you” to her fans as her time in the Dales has come to a sad end. Paula made her debut in the Dales in January 2024.

She traded the drama in Weatherfield to take on the role of Ella Forster, who found herself out of a job when she stuck up for Mandy Dingle, played by Lisa Riley. On Thursday (April 3), Ella’s final scenes played out on screen as she found herself trapped within a dangerous love triangle with Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Liam (Jonny McPherson).

Ella took the blame for a number of mysterious incidents which happened in the village, including Chas’ suspicious drug overdose and a brick thrown through her window. Despite Ella admitting she was not responsible, the villagers all turned against her.

Viewers saw the character get arrested and taken away after a dramatic showdown with her ex-boyfriend Liam which left him unconscious in the woods. Fans took to social media after watching the devastating scenes and all said the same thing about Ella’s sudden exit. One asked: “Seriously???? Is that the end of Ella??????”

Paula Lane took to Instagram to update fans on the sad news she had departed the village for good. She captioned the video: “A little message from me. Thank you @emmerdale. Onwards!”

In the video, she said: “Today is Valentine’s Day, and I’m actually about to finish shooting my final scene on Emmerdale as Ella. I just wanted to say I have had a lovely time here. I’ve met some wonderful people and I will really cherish the experience.

“I just want to say thank you all for your support and your messages. I hope you get to see me on some new dramas in the future or on stage, or wherever life now takes me in my career.

Honestly everything is all positive, there’s no negatives to spin on this. She is a brilliant character and never say never, who knows. lots of love from me.”

Fans rushed to the comments to wish the actress good luck in her future endeavours. One wrote: “Brilliant as always outstanding acting as ever. Felt really sorry for Ella as you played it so well . Can’t wait to see what you do next x.”

More added: “Poor Ella, if only she knew all of us loved her you will be dearly missed Paula”, “You were brilliant. You’ll be missed Paula! Good luck with whatever is next for you.”

Another fan said: “The episode was awesome! You’ve been absolutely incredible playing Ella! Thank you Paula for everything! Ella was one of my favourite characters in Emmerdale and you’re one of my favourite British Soap Opera actors of all time! Can’t wait to see what’s next for you! I’ll always support you! You’re the best!”

Paula’s appearance on Emmerdale came six years after she left the Cobbles as her character Kylie Platt was murdered. Kylie’s life came to a tragic end as she died in her husband David’s arms. Paula described her final scenes as “one of the most shocking deaths in Corrie history.”

She portrayed Kylie from 2010 to 2016, before she was murdered by Shona’s son Clayton Gibbs who is now married to David Platt. The scene in which Kylie died was one of the most heartrending Coronation Street moments to date. Fans cried along at home as David begged his wife to stay with him until the ambulance arrived, before breaking down in absolute heartbreak when he realised she had gone.

During her break inbetween soaps, Paula appeared in several theatre productions and well as taking the part of Vera Sands in Call the Midwife.
