Donald Trump has said his pencilled in visit to the UK could take place in September.The US President, who met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni tonight, received his invitation in February when Sir Keir Starmer travelled to Washington DC.Speaking about his imminent visit to Windsor Castle from the Oval Office, Trump said: “”I was invited by the King and the great country. They are going to do a second fest – that’s what it is. It is beautiful.”He added: “It is the second time is has happened to one person. The reason is we have two separate terms and it’s an honour to be a friend of King Charles and the family, William.”I think they are setting a date for September I don’t know how it can be bigger than the last one. “The last one was incredible but they say the next one will be even more important.”Trump will become the first US President to attend two separate state visits, having reached a similarly historic milestone by becoming the second Commander-in-Chief to serve two non-consecutive terms in the White House. The 78-year-old is expected to stay at Windsor Castle, rather than Balmoral. Sir Keir Starmer’s top team had been pushing for Trump’s visit to head north of the border given the President’s maternal connection to Scotland.However, the imminent visit comes amid ongoing trade negotiations after Trump slapped Britain with the base line 10 per cent tariff levy. Trump is expected to finalise an agreement with the UK in the coming weeks, allies of the 47th President have claimed. A source told The Telegraph that an accord could be struck within two to three weeks. Vice President JD Vance already sent the Ftse 100 surging after hinting about a transatlantic agreement.He said: “We’re certainly working very hard with Keir Starmer’s Government.”Vance added: “The President really loves the United Kingdom. He loved the queen. He admires and loves the King.”It is a very important relationship. And he’s a businessman and has a number of important business relationships in [Britain]. But I think it’s much deeper than that.“There’s a real cultural affinity.
