Some of President Donald Trump’s supporters in one of the most hard-fought battleground states are losing patience with him over his handling of the economy.In a recent segment, CNN reporter John King traveled to Tucson, Arizona to speak with Trump voters about how they viewed the president’s performance 100 days into his second term. King pointed out that while Tucson (home of the University of Arizona) is typically friendly to Democrats, Trump performed stronger there in 2024 than in previous elections and carried the Grand Canyon State (along with the six other swing states) in November.King described local business owner Tamara Varga as a “Tucson hero” whose food truck and candy store employed 50 people with special needs. She was particularly worried about the Republican budget bill that would cut Medicaid by more than $880 billion, and hoped that Trump would follow through on his promise to not cut the program that provides health insurance for low-income and disabled Americans.READ MORE: ‘Dead wrong’: Trumpworld warns Republicans against Medicaid cuts that would hurt MAGA”I’m worried about Medicaid and Medicare and Social Security,” said Varga, who King further described as a “devout Christian and lifelong Republican.”The local entrepreneur told CNN that she no longer believes Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was rigged in favor of former President Joe Biden, and that she was now more open to supporting Democratic candidates in local elections. She added that Trump’s recently imposed tariffs and the resulting price increases on imported goods could put him and Republicans in politically perilous territory.”The items that we put in our gift baskets have gone up [in price],” Varga said. “I’ll give him some time. And I’m hopeful.
