Hon Hai Technology Group (鴻海集團), also known as Foxconn Technology Group (富士康科技集團), yesterday announced that global chief campus operation officer Kathy Yang (楊秋瑾) would become the group’s next rotating chief executive officer, replacing Lin Chung-cheng (林忠正).
The appointment takes effect today, Hon Hai said in a statement.
Yang’s appointment makes her the first woman to hold the rotating CEO role, the company said.

Hon Hai introduced the rotating CEO system in April last year, with the heads of its business groups and administrative departments taking turns to assume the CEO position.
The purpose is to cultivate next-generation leaders with skills required for broader roles, while enhancing the group’s corporate governance, the major Apple Inc supplier said.
Hon Hai chairman Young Liu (劉揚偉) praised Lin, head of the company’s E Business Group, for fulfilling his duties as first rotating CEO and achieving operational goals during his tenure, which has set a good precedent, he said.
E Business Group’s operation scope includes gaming, thermal modules, lightweight metal chassis, printed circuit boards, and electronic modules for electric cars.
“Leadership planning is very important for enterprises that want their operations to be sustainable. The rotating CEO sytem is a key part of that,” Liu said in the statement.
“Over time, this transitional system will cultivate a pool of leaders with proven expertise in both operational execution and organizational management,” he added.
Yang joined Hon Hai in 2007. After working in various positions at different divisions, she became the company’s first global chief campus operation officer last year, responsible for integrating and improving the group’s global deployment and enhancing the service support from headquarters to its worldwide campuses.
Yang also serves as Hon Hai’s chief logistics and trade compliance officer as well as chairwoman and CEO of Jusda Supply Chain Management International Co (準時達國際供應鏈管理), a leading logistics solutions provider and a key subsidiary of Hon Hai.
At a time of global geopolitical changes, Hon Hai expects the new rotating CEO to help improve the group’s business management and global deployment by leveraging her expertise in global logistics, trade compliance and worldwide campus operation oversight, the statement said.
