Strictly Come Dancing star Janette Manrara has shared a joint update with fellow professional dancer and husband Aljaz Skorjanec. An adorable photo of their daughter Lyra has been shared to their Instagram accounts to mark Mother’s Day.
In a message alongside the photo, the BBC It Takes Two presenter wrote: “In celebration of Mother’s Day, such a special day of the year, we are thrilled to be releasing a short film for all to see. It has been a passionate topic for us for quite some time.
“This short film is about empowering parents, and about breaking stereotypes. It’s not easy to co-parent when both are working… but it’s not impossible.”
Janette added that the film means a lot to the couple and they have been nervous about when and how they release it. They said: “We are hoping us sharing our reality will give some support to parents out there who need a reminder that there is no one way system to raising a child, and that we are all doing our best.”
In a heartwarming reminder, the presenter added “This is for all the mothers who constantly doubt, for the fathers who want to let go of stereotypes, and for all the children that we are raising to see both parents working together as a team. In whatever way that looks like, to provide the best possible future for them. There is no one way system, there is only love.”
After teasing the announcement earlier this week, fans of the BBC stars were quick to send love and support ahead of the new project. One fan wrote “Happy Mother’s Day Janette. Hope you have the best day celebrating you !!! I can’t wait to watch you are such an inspiration to so many parents out there thank you for all the awareness you spread! So incredibly proud of you always.”
A second comment read “And your doing a wonderful job just look at little Lyra”, a third replied “So beautiful to see it all come together, and I’m so proud of you two for sharing this with the world.” Further comments included clapping hand emojis and love heart emojis.
The two met in 2010 at a dance studio in London and worked on the dance show ‘Burn the Floor’ together. The dancers tied the knot in 2017 after 7 years together. Janette has been open about her close family bond with husband Aljaž and daughter Lyra.
Only a matter of weeks ago, the dancer revealed she was feeling “scared” over the prospect of being away from her child as she toured for the musical Chicago. The couple are currently on holiday together in Mauritius with their daughter Lyra.
The professional dancers have had to spend time apart recently due to the touring commitments. On March 4, Janette shared a photo with her husband of the two embracing in a hug after her first show.
The 41-year-old captioned the Instagram post: “Thank you for coming to support me Bučko (@aljazskorjanec), and also to my agents and beautiful friends. My heart felt so full of love. What a beautiful tribe I have surrounding me.”
