A man has died at a well known beauty spot following reports of someone in the water. Emergency services rushed to Healey Dell at around 9am on Sunday, March 30, after reports of a person in the water. A man in his 60s was pulled from the river in Rochdale and, despite the best efforts of those involved, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported a heavy police presence in the area while officers worked to establish the circumstances surrounding his death. Lancashire Police confirmed to the Manchester Evening News his death is not being treated as suspicious. In a statement the force said: “Shortly after 9am we received a report of a person being in the water at Healey Dell, in Rochdale.
“A man in his 60’s was recovered from the water, and sadly, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this sad time. His death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be passed to the coroner in due course.”
