Bradley Walsh was shocked after hearing one contestant make a surprising admission on The Chase. Yvonne, Ellie, Pete and Zainudeen made up the team of four contestants ready to play for a whopping cash prize on the ITV quiz show.
They hoped to test their knowledge against one of the UK’s best quizzers. Pete was first up to take on The Chaser. He decided to take a risk after accumulating £3,000 in the cash builder.
Shaun Wallace, aka The Dark Destroyer, convinced the player to take a high offer of £25,000. But unfortunately Pete’s time on the quiz show was cut short after being caught by The Chaser. Next up was Ellie, hoping to make a better impression.
She was disappointed after bagging just £2,000 in the first quickfire round on the game show. But the contestant learned from Pete’s mistake and she decided to play it safe, returning back to the team with £1,000 to kickstart the prize pot.
However, it was Zainudeen who shocked presenter Bradley Walsh after one thing he said. Bradley made small talk about the contestant’s education at university, as he was studying politics. The TV host asked: “Do you seriously want to get into politics?”, as Zainudeen replied: “No!”
The player gave an impressive performance in his cash builder round, accumulating £6,000 with his excellent general knowledge skills. Bradley was impressed with the quizzer, as he went on to ask him: “How old are you?” But when Zainudeen admitted he was just “19” the TV host said: “You are? Wow!”
The Dark Destroyer was just as surprised as Bradley, as he said: “For a 19-year old they were fantastic answers.” Both Bradley and Shaun were keen for the young player to succeed on the ITV quiz show, as they both said: “I hope you get this [question right].”
After an impressive run against The Chaser, Zainudeen added his whopping share of £6,000 into the combined prize pot. Final contestant Yvonne hoped to follow in his successful footsteps.
After bagging just £2,000, she decided to play for £1,000 to hopefully join Zainudeen and Ellie in the final chase. She also triumphed against The Dark Destroyer, increasing the cash pot to £8,000 ahead of a final showdown on the quiz show. In the end, The Chaser unfortunately caught their score of 16 with 12 seconds remaining, which meant the three quizzers went home empty handed.
The Chase airs weekdays on ITV1 at 5pm.
