Fans revealed their confusion over the episode
The Chase fans found themselves asking “what’s going on” just minutes into Friday’s episode of the ITV quiz show. Viewers were not happy after seeing Shaun Wallace appear as The Chaser. Carla, Matt, Brad and Jay made up the team of four fresh contestants ready to test their wits against one of the UK’s best quizzers.
Jay from Darlington was first up to face The Chaser with the hopes of taking home a whopping cash prize. She got off to a great start after accumulating £6,000 in the Cash Builder round.
But viewers all had the same thing to say about which Chaser made their way into the hot seat on the ITV show. During yesterday’s instalment of the TV quiz, The Dark Destroyer triumphed against contestant Rosie, who performed well in a solo attempt to take home some cash.
Fans were surprised to see Shaun Wallace also take on tonight’s (Friday March 21) new set of players. Taking to social media, one viewer wrote: “Shaun is on again two days on the trot.” More added to the conversation on X: “Sean again? What’s going on?” and “Why is Shaun on again?”
Viewers were expecting to see a new episode on ITV1, and were disappointed to watch a repeat that they had already seen before. Some fans admitted they switched off the quiz show. One said: “I’ve seen this before, I know how this ends, I want no part of this.”
Meanwhile, Jay made a great first impression as she successfully returned back to the team, adding £6,000 to the collective prize pot. Next, Matt from Birkenhead hoped to follow in her footsteps.
He decided to play it safe, taking The Chaser’s lower offer of £1,000 in a bid to join Jay in the final chase. He proved to make the right decision, as he successfully bagged himself a place in the next round. Presenter Bradley Walsh said: “Well played” as the quizzer increased the prize pot to £7,000.
With two players securing a spot in the final, Brad was next up to test his knowledge. Bradley Walsh joked: “It looks like I’m up next”, noticing he shared the same name as the quizzer. Contestant Brad also triumphed against The Dark Destroyer, returning to his teammates with £4,000.
Last quizzer Carla continued the successful run, joining her teammates in the final chase with the chance to win a grand total of £17,000. In the end, the four players proved their knowledge with a score of 20.
The Dark Destroyer failed to catch the team, who needed four more correct answers to beat the quizzers. Therefore, Carla, Matt, Brad and Jay successfully achieved £4,250 each on the quiz show.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1.
