Drama continued in the Dales as Caleb Miligan found himself at the centre of a tragic plan which left him fighting for his life. Joe is currently suffering from chronic kidney failure and has been searching for an eligible donor.
With the help of local GP Manpreet, Joe learned Caleb would be a suitable match and began his sinister plan to target the depot owner. Joe is the half-nephew of Caleb. Caleb’s dad Frank Tate is the half-brother of Joe’s dad Christopher Tate.
During Thursday’s (March 28) hour long broadcast, Joe executed his master plan. Joe’s ally and troublemaker Shaun attacked Caleb with a knife. Going along with the plan, Joe came to the ‘rescue’, but was shocked to see his scheme did not go exactly as he intended.
The village troublemaker found Caleb in a far worse state than he had planned. Worried for his life, Joe transported Caleb to his private doctor, Dr. Crowley.
On Friday, the doctor performed CPR on Caleb who lay in the private hospital after his life-threatening attack. Meanwhile, Joe also went under the knife with the hopes of a kidney transplant.
Later in the episode, Caleb was transported to a general hospital, where he was visited by his wife Ruby and daughter Steph. A police detective also arrived to question him on exactly what happened at the depot, and how he ended up in such a critical condition.
It was revealed Caleb’s attacker, Shaun, had been arrested, which left Joe Tate feeling panicked. If the police manage to connect the dots between Shaun and Dr. Crowley, then Joe’s so-called master plan will have been a complete fail and may result in him being put behind bars.
Fans took to social media after the hard-hitting storyline. Over viewer wrote: “Can’t believe what I just watched.” More added to the conversation on X: “Absolutely ridiculous storyline Joe stealing Caleb’s kidney”, “This gets more and more ridiculous by the second. Why the frick wouldn’t Joe have just taken him to hospital. It’s so unbelievable.”
Elsewhere on the ITV soap, Marlon Dingle’s frustration continued to grow as his daughter April is spiralling out of control. The teenager fled from the village on Christmas day, leaving her dad concerned about her whereabouts.
She later returned, but heavily pregnant. She unfortunately went on to lose the baby, with fans questioning who the father of her baby may be.
She also got herself involved in the chaotic life of homeless teen Dylan. With Dylan now in rehab, April struggles to face the psychological consequences of her time living on the streets.
Ever since her return to the village, she has continued to give her dad and Rhona a hard time. But viewers are not happy that Emmerdale producers have “ruined” the character. One wrote: “April is such a vile little cow now. Why did they turn a nice normal girl into a horror.”
During the episode, the troubled teenager slept with an unfamiliar boy while at a party. Marlon and Rhona were horrified to find her walking down the stairs with the stranger. The concerned parents missed their chance to ask April about the situation, as she stormed away and told them to leave her alone.
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV1.
