Chas collapsed in The Woolpack following a drug overdose
Emmerdale fans have dubbed one character the “new serial killer” after suspicions continued to grow about what exactly happened to Chas Dingle. During Wednesday’s broadcast of the ITV soap, Chas went in to The Woolpack and immediately collapsed to the floor while banging her head on the bar.
Chas lay unconscious, before John and Vic came to find her. Surprised to see the landlady on the floor, John checked her pulse and asked his sister to call an ambulance.
While at the hospital, the nurse asked: “The codeine you’ve been prescribed for your back injury, have you been taking it exactly as you were instructed?” But her fiancé Liam’s concerns began to grow, as he suspected someone else was responsible for Chas’ overdose.
The doctor was keen to find his ex-girlfriend Ella to confront her about “tampering with Chas’ codeine”. He was furious as he shouted: “Ella you could’ve killed her!”
Ella denied altering the medication, but to Liam’s surprise, Chas’ engagement ring fell out of Ella’s purse. Looking guilty, she explained she did go in to Chas’ house but did not intend to take the ring. Liam failed to believe her excuses, and decided to confide in Aaron and John. The group then called the police.
Meanwhile, Ella opened up to Mandy and told her she did not drug Chas. Ella and Liam were in a relationship for a short period of time, while Ella said she “really loved him”. But Liam was more interested in Chas, which meant Ella became number one suspect as the “psycho” ex-girlfriend who wanted to hurt Liam’s new fiancée.
Later in the episode, Ella was arrested and she was also released from her job at the surgery. But Emmerdale fans were convinced that Ella was not to blame for the overdose, and instead pointed their fingers at another resident.
Taking to social media, one wrote: “I am telling you it’s John drugging Chas! He’s done it to act like the hero, going in there to save her or actively trying to kill her, either way he’s guilty AF!”
More added to the conversation on X: “It was John! Not Ella”, “Wrongly accused Ella-Psycho John getting away with it”, “John is going to be the new serial killer, mark my words” and “I do not trust John one bit. He drugged Chas.”
Earlier in the week, John proposed to Chas’ son Aaron, and the protective mum was not best pleased. John is aware that his boyfriend’s mum is not his biggest fan, but has actively been trying to convince her to warm to him.
Elsewhere in the village, John has shown a real darker side to his personality, as he disposed of Anthony Fox’s corpse after his dramatic murder. If one dead body was not enough, Nate Robinson also lies lifeless at the bottom of a lake, with John pinned as the prime suspect responsible for his death.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
