Coronation Street’s Jenny Bradley star issued an emotional tribute after the scenes were broadcast
Coronation Street’s Sally Ann Matthews has issued a heartfelt tribute after a co-star’s exit. The soap star is renowned for her role as Jenny Bradley in the ITV soap.
The soap star has been at the centre of the action in Weatherfield currently as she is trying to support Daisy Midgeley after she was ran over by a car in a hit and run incident. Daisy was hit by a car as David Platt was trying to get run over so he could pay back his debt to the villainous Harvey Gaskell.
May characters have been embroiled in the saga as Max Turner set fire to the Platt household to claim insurance. However, the character was rumbled by the police and has now been sentenced to six and a half years in prison.
The storyline has meant Paddy Bever, who plays Max, has now departed the Cobbles. His final scene aired last night as the actor issued a goodbye message on Coronation Street’s Instagram channels.
He said: “If you are watching this, it means that you have also watched Max’s exit and therefore you know I am parting ways with this role and the show.
“That comes with a huge cocktail of emotions because I’ve had the most wonderful time tuned in – to everyone who loves Max, thank you. To everyone who hates Max, thank you.”
He added: “He’s certainly been very complex and a real privilege to play. To be part of the Platt family and be part of an amazing team for three years has been incredible. It’s been some very formative years for me and it’s a very strange feeling that it’s coming to an end. This has definitely been amongst the hardest decisions of my life as I’ve just had the most amazing time.”
He also shared an Instagram post as he said: “I’ll remember this job and the people I’ve met along the way so fondly-what a ride it’s been. Thank you.”
Sally referenced Paddy’s Best Rising Star win at the National Television Awards in 2022. She said: “Paddington! Aww you and Mills after the NTAs. Love you buddy.” Millie Gibson, who played Kelly Neelan in Corrie, was gobsmacked when Paddy picked up the Rising Star award
Footage from the event seems to show the soap star make an explicit remark as she celebrated the win. The star, who now appears in Doctor Who, took to Instagram to address the hilarious moment at the time as she said: “that proud that I didn’t drop the f bomb at all.”
She continues to enjoy a close bond with her Paddy as she also took to the comments after his exit message and said: “Go fly hot stuff.”
They were one of many co-stars to take to the comments to issue messages of support. Cait Fitton, who plays Lauren Bolton, said: “Oh how I miss working with you everyday.
“I am so proud of how far you’ve come . I will always look back on our journey so fondly. I love you pads” Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt, commented: “luv ya!”
Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays Dee Dee Bailey, posted: “We love you!” Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy Swain, commented: “superstar”
Charlie Jordan, who plays Daisy Midgeley, commented: “beautiful boy” Sue Devaney, who plays Debbie Webster, said: “Love you! Love your talent! Fly high bright star!”
